That was the single most amazing night I’ve had in a very long time.
Like, no, seriously. It was amazing. I wish I got pictures during the performance, but we decided to just enjoy the show, and try to get some pics afterwards.
My wife and I were lucky enough to have Eternal Scout tickets, and were the first Eternal Scouts in line for the 7:30 pm show, so we got our pick of the theater. Needless to say, we sat front row, center. And it was sooooo worth it. We were practically close enough to touch the actors while they were on stage, and Jason Webley (the weather for the night) actually walked to the very edge of the stage, so we very nearly did touch him! I thought he was gonna fall off the stage a few times.
I won’t go into details about what actually happened during the show, since that would be rude. (BUT I’m happy to chat about it with people who are in the know!) But I will just say: omg Steve Carlsberg, OMG KEVIN, OOOOMMMGGGG HIRAM AND FACELESS OLD WOMAN.
So it was awesome.
And I got some pics afterward! Kevin, Cecil, Joseph, and Meg were outside after the first show to meet fans. Sadly, I didn’t get to talk to Cecil at that point because by the time I got close enough, Meg was dragging him back inside to start the next show. But Kevin, Meg, and Joseph were really amazing people.
Kevin is a HUGE sweetie, and I sort of stumbled into chatting with him by accident at first. I was being pushed towards him in the crowd, and as luck would have it, someone was trying to get an autograph from him and he needed something to write on. So I offered my sketchbook, which was flipped to a doodle I had done of Kevin the character:
and as soon as he signed the other girl’s paper, Kevin looked at my drawing and just went “OH MY GOD! Is that Kevin?!” I told him yes, of course, and he looked absolutely ecstatic about it. He signed it, obviously, and happily posed for a picture with me.
He is an adorable human being and I was super happy to have met him. Kevin is one of my favorite characters.
So, like I had said, I was trying to get near Cecil. But it wasn’t working, so I had stood near Kevin and Meg, chatting until it was time for them to go back. Meg told me that if we waited until after the 2nd show, they would be out again for as long as possible, signing and chatting.
Soooooo we waited. In the cold. Outside the theater. And then in relative warmth. Inside a diner next to the theater. And then back out in the cold again.
Once the show goers all filed out after the second show, the actors slooooowly started piling out. Starting with Hal Lublin, who voiced both an angel and this guy:
(Ignore my shitty doodle of Steve, but hey, Hal signed it, which was awesome.) He was a really fun guy, and seemed really excited to see all of us waiting for the cast.
I had started passing around a drawing I’ve previously posted here on Tumblr of Cecil and Carlos for the cast to sign if I could reach them. Everyone was amazing. Joseph was a really personable guy, Jeffrey was just adorable, and Mara was really laid back. Sadly, I didn’t get all the actors’ autographs, but I did get Joseph’s mom’s autograph, which was cool.
That’s the drawing in question, by the by.
Now, this whole time, I was still trying to fight the crowd to get near Cecil just long enough to get his autograph and a picture, but I wasn’t able to get anywhere near the guy.
It was beginning to get really late, and we were going to miss our train back home if we didn’t hit the road soon, so I really started to worry I wouldn’t get to him.
Meg came to the rescue in the coolest way possible! She remembered my wife and I from the previous show, and that she’d told us to wait here and we’d see Cecil again, so when she heard we had to leave, she had us follow her around the crowd to Cecil, and got him for us! Like, seriously, Meg is a dream, okay? Okay? Total sweetie.
BUT ANYWAY. So we finally got to meet Cecil, and that was a pretty big deal. Got a hug (he’s way skinnier than I anticipated, and I feel like if I tried, I could have broken him in two), got him to sign my drawing, and got a picture. He was really personable and sweet, and I noticed he didn’t sound quite like he does on the show. Which is okay! He still sounded amazing.
And he told my wife that she’s cute. Which is true, but hearing it from Cecil was something special.
So, yeah, after that, we skidaddled for our train and headed home. But it was amazing, and I can’t wait to hear the live episode when it airs.
Pretty much exactly what Felix said! Last night was absolutely amazing- there isn’t anything that I really could add to this that he didn’t already cover. <3
